I am the Chairperson of the Presidential Committee for Decentralization and Balanced Development.

We will usher in an era of local regions where everyone enjoys equal opportunities and prospers together, no matter where they live in the Republic of Korea.

Building on the Lee Jae Myung Administration’s new national growth strategy, the “Mega-regional Policy for Balanced Growth (5 Multi-poles & 3 Special Zones)” and “Substantive Local Autonomy and Decentralization,” the Presidential Committee for Decentralization and Balanced Development will create new growth engines for the Republic of Korea, led by the regions and supported by the state.

We will link the growth engines of each mega-region with the Three Major Mega-Projects and improve conditions for industry, talent, transportation, and living together, driving change in which regional growth and the lives of our people advance hand in hand.

We will transfer authority from the central government to local governments and enhance their fiscal autonomy.
We will expand resident participation so that regions can determine their own paths to development, and support inter-regional cooperation and mega-regional self-governance to further strengthen the foundation of decentralization.

Together with you, the people of Korea, we will build a new future for the Republic of Korea through balanced growth and decentralization.
